Community/Guild-Run Ronin Validator Node Announcement
Overview:
It is our great pleasure to announce that the AxieChat Community has been selected by the existing group of Ronin validators to run the very first Ronin “Community Validator” Node. We are truly excited to help lay the foundations for Community Involvement in Axie Infinity, and to continue to be a positive role model for those who choose to step up next. The AxieChat Community Node will be backed by approximately 50 members of AxieChat “founders” and headed by a 5-member leadership team representing some of the best community developers and creators.
About AxieChat:
AxieChat started as a podcast in September 2020 as an effort to entertain and educate the community. This weekly podcast has since evolved into a thriving Axie-focused mastermind group of over 150 engaged members. These members have made the AxieChat discord a breeding ground for new tools, resources, services, and content to benefit the larger Axie Infinity Community.
Proposal:
Seeing the large-scale success of Ronin, and the growing pains associated with it, prompted some of the more technical members of our community to have a conversation about how we as a community could help the broader ecosystem. We put together plans, ran tests, and submitted a proposal to Sky Mavis. We adapted our plans to ensure compliance w/ requested uptime, hardware specs, security needs, auditability, etc.
True Community Partnership:
As Sky Mavis stated in the initial announcement, Ronin “represents our desire to take the destiny of our product into our own hands,” removing itself from the fate of 3rd party tools and restrictions of other blockchains. The true power of decentralization and consensus smart contracts will prove itself over time; the Axie Infinity whitepaper provides a powerful roadmap for this transition to occur intelligently.
We believe that AxieChat’s proposal takes the first steps in making this a reality. Our hope is that our documented efforts will be a guiding light for future community-run nodes and will chart a course for additional, positive innovations and support for the Axie Infinity universe!
